Yukiteru Amano, who serves as the story’s protagonist, is a reclusive and self-absorbed loner who maintains a comprehensive mobile phone diary of his day-to-day activities. According to Yukiteru, his made-up friend, Deus Ex Machina, the ruler of time, is actually the master of time.

One day, Deus makes the decision to organize a game and gives Yukiteru his cell phone back, but not before he has made some personal modifications to it. The youngster does, however, quickly become aware of a few peculiarities: the diary, rather than holding the information entered by him, reveals things not yet occurring; and, as these facts are fulfilled, the boy realizes that the mobile phone is able to predict the future.
