On Thursday the nominations for the category Best Animated Feature Film was declared by the planners of the 13th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (ASPA). The movies Weathering With You by Makoto Shinkai and Penguin Highway by Hiroyasu Ishida has been nominated for the award. These two movies are competing with Mosley by Kirby Atkins, Underdog by Oh Sung-yoon, and The Unseen by Behzad Nalbandi.
The awards will be held on 21 November in Brisbane, Australia. On November 16 and 17 the movies Weathering With You and Penguin Highway will be telecast for free in the town.
In 2007 the award in the category of Best Animated Feature Film was won by Shinkai in APSA’s inaugural year along with 5 Centimeters Per Second. In 2011 and 2017 also his movies named Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below and your name were also nominated in the same category correspondingly.
In 2015 the last anime movie named Miss Hokusai by Keiichi Hara won the Best Animated Feature Film category in the ASPA. Apart from the 5 Centimeters Per Second in 2007, the other anime movies that won this award are A Letter to Momo in 2012 and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya in 2014.
