Demon Slayer is an action manga set in a fantasy world, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. The story of the manga is fairly innovative, which is set in the early 20th Century in the Japanese Culture. In terms of history, it is set in Taishō-era when Japan was ruled by Emperor Taishō from 30 July 1912 to 25 December 1926. But it is different from the real world as the world in this manga is terrorized by demons who feed on people. These demons can’t survive the daylight due to which they mostly come out at night.

The manga is being featured in Weekly Shonen Jump since 15th February, 2016, and has been compiled into 20 volumes and 204 chapters. Chapter 204, Volume 20, will conclude the manga series, Kimetsu no Yaiba which will be released on 10th May 2020 and it will be available soon after the release.

The story is about a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado who works hard to provide for his family as he is the only breadwinner of the family. Their family lives on a mountain and he make living by selling charcoal in villages near his home. One day, his life turned upside down when he found his whole family killed by the demons after returning from work. His sister Nezuko was the only one who lived but was transformed into a demon. But she is different from other demons as she recognizes her brother which makes Tanjiro believe that she can be cured.

Tanjiro encounters a highly capable Demon Slayer who teach him to protect himself and fight against any further attack. Tanjiro save his sister from harming others and get recruited in Demon Slayer Corps to fight against Demons and peace in the world.

Jumping to the current arc, Tanjiro has discovered the demon who killed his family along with the reason for that attack. The demon who attacked his family was Muzan and he is the first demon of all. Since he has been alive for longer than any other demon in the world, his power is incomparable. Muzan has turned many humans into demons by transferring his blood to them. His goal is to be able to survive in the daylight to rule over the entire world.

Although he has been discovered by the Demon Slayer Corps who are working together to fight against him. Muzan is finally killed after shedding some blood and losing some friends in the process. Tanjiro deals with the cause of the existence of the demons and put end to it and is also able to avenge his family which would not have been possible without Demon Slayer.

In the final battle, Muzan possess Tanjiro’s body and grants him eternal life once he is able to survive in the daylight. But Tanjiro refuse to accept this offer as he does not trust Muzan and with the help of Drug extracted from Westeria Flower, he is rescued by Kanao. Finally, Tanjiro and Nezuko are free to go home peacefully.

The manga has gained immense popularity in and outside of Japan for the thrilling story and action packed moments. The story is not just thrilling but horrifying as well. The anime has been produced by Ufotable studio which was released in 2018. A movie will also be released later this year. Both manga and the anime has been a massive hit with 40.3 million copies of manga being sold and the anime being the Best anime of 2019. Sadly the manga has reached the climax, but the good thing is the fans can still look forward to the movie.

The end is going to be very satisfying as it will achieve the ultimate goal and although, many sacrifices have been made but Tanjiro had finally turned his sister back and avenged his family by saving the world from the horror of demons.
