Iris (Fire Force)
Iris provides great support where fire fighters around her possess the magical abilities. Although she is not a very social person and is mostly quite but when the lives are at stake in the field she never hesitates in providing her full support. Despite of having no abilities like those her teammates have, she is capable of healing injuries and battling against foes. With her limited abilities and her position. Botan is not just a good supporting character but a true leader. She knows how to be fair while being strict at simultaneously. No one can fool around her and she is really good at making someone know their place. For instance she applied reverse psychology on a delinquent in her team when he ask her for sex while she was washing up in a waterfall. Instead of shutting him down or getting angry, she calmly says okay if he doesn’t mind having children. He changes his mind after thinking about that. In fact Botan is more a great leader than a supporting character. Since, she is from the police background and has been trained accordingly, she is capable of handling any situation calmly, no matter how hard it is. No doubt she is a great support to anyone who is with her.
Dororo (Dororo)
Although the title of the series is based in her name but plays the supporting role as a co-lead. She was depicted as a boy in most part of the show. Considering the change of perception regarding gender discrimination in the last few years, the portrayal of this character can be controversial in terms of gender discrimination. Her father had wished for a son and therefore she was brought up as a boy but in the end she accepts her feminine side. Her character plays the most important role of supporting Hyakkimaru and prevent him from losing his humanity. As they move forward in their journey and Hyakkimaru gets his body parts, it becomes hard for him to control over his rage but with Dororo on his side, it becomes possible. The character development of Dororo is really good as she learns to be concern about other she encounters while travelling. In the end she becomes an excellent leader and help peasants of Japan in whatever ways she can.
Kohaku (Dr. Stone)
Kohaku is the best supporter when it comes to a combat. At first she might seems intimidating if one doesn’t know her but, after being acquainted, you can’t get a better ally than her. She is not just an skilled fighter but she is a sincere friend and immensely cares for her friends and family. She has been shown to be incredibly considerate towards her sister, Ruri who is the priestess of the village and that’s what makes her one of the best female supporting character. It was proved when she participated in the tournament where the winner will to marry her sister. She wanted to prevent her sister from getting married to a mean combatant. When she acknowledges Senku’s scientific skills and information, she becomes his most valuable ally and supports him in all possible ways.
Raphtalia (Rise of the Shield Hero)
If there is any supporting character who was introduced as a weakling and then became one of the strongest and courageous supporting character in the anime of 2019, that is Raphtalia. She was bought as a slave by Naofumi. At first he was reluctant but later, he cares for her the most. He raises her like his own child when she was little and because of that she levels up and grows within two weeks. Raphtalia does not just develops as a great warrior but also becomes a loyal ally of Naofumi who showed kindness towards her. She shows her loyalty when the seal of her slavery to him is broken but she still stays by her side and brings him back to his senses when he shatters and lose all hopes. She is first person to trust him instead of all the allegation and rumors about him. She is ready to put her life in danger to help Naofumi fight and is not afraid to face any threat to save him. Without any doubt she tops the list of our favorite female supporting characters.
