Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 2: Review

What an adorable episode. This anime knows how to make someone feel happy. It’s a nice anime that warms our heart. I really adore it. There are somethings that made us unhappy but we had that coming. But it’s just the second episode so it is quite early for such a heartbreaking thing.

We got to see two new characters that belong to Oni clan, Yabashir and Shizuno. While Goelm and Solami were having fun with horned rabbits. Somali stumble and injured her knee while running after the rabbit. Her minor injury was painful for her and unluckily they were out of anything that would heal that wound. But luckily a small oni ran into them accidentally. He helps them and apply his medicine to her wound and invite them to his place in the woods.

Shizuno is a dwarf oni and that is why he weaker than the others in his race, but they happen to be making medicines of their own. Yabashira is his assistant who is a normal Oni and lives in his home. Honestly, they seemed to me quite suspicious at first. The weird cat in the first episode made it hard for me to trust anyone who come across them. But the way they treated them at their place, it seems like they are quite generous and there is nothing to be worried about. They are very nice to both of them and treated Somali’s injury very kindly.

Golem request Shizuno to tell him how these medicines are made so that he can use that skill when they are travelling. Shizuno agrees to teach him but in return ask him for a part of Golem. Yabashira interrupts saying it is not appropriate thing to ask for especially infront of Somali. Shizuno tells them he was kidding and apologize but Golem takes a part of his hand and gives it to Shizuno. It was weird but Golem seems to be okay with it.

While Golem takes lessons from Shizuno, Somali hands Yabashiro in chores. She wants to help her dad just as he is doing so much for her. She is so cute!!

Golem seems to understand quickly about the medicines. Shizuno asks him   about the reason for learning it. Golem says he is learning for Somali as she gets hurt and he seemed sad while saying that. When she is hurt, he gets sad that too. Not sure if he has heart or not but it seems like he does have emotions when it comes to Somali. Shizuno also mentions that he is heartbroken which is obviously disagreed by Golem and he keeps ignoring his feelings. While Somali is sleeping he explains everything to them telling them why he is with the child and what he is looking for. They notice that he seems to be in hustle and uncovers his body to show them its condition. As we expected Golem’s body is not in god shape as his life is linked with the forest and the more time he would spend away from it, the more damage would occur to his body and eventually it will cause him his life. But Golem is just a year and a half away from the life span of his race as the maximum age limit of golems is 1000 and Golem is around 998 years old. He has to find Somali’s parents within that time. He doesn’t have much time and poor Somali has no clue about that.

It seems like their journey won’t be long as Golem does not have much time. We are not even sure if there are any human out there. Most of the humans already dead a long time ago. Even Somali was not in the good condition when she came across Golem so there is a possibility her parents are not alive. Golem may have doubted that as well. So it looks like from this point onwards this show is going to be a little heartbreaking. But I did doubt that that it is going to be an emotional show and there would be a point where he would have to leave the child but she would not want that. Now that he is going to die, she is going to be heartbroken. This show is going to make us cry a lot.

This episode was very interesting. I like Shizuno and Yabashira and I would like to see them again. So far this show is calming and heartwarming. Let’s see what kind of creatures they will meet on they will meet on their way while their bond get stronger. I hope there are humans left in the world which seems impossible so far but probably they meet one in their journey.
