Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Episode : Review

So, the job of human assistant is to clean the bathroom. I didn’t expect that. But that’s just not it. There are more duties that Yashiro will have to perform as a human assistant of Hanako. Seems like there are more phantoms in the schools. Yashiro job will be to help Hanako to deal with them.

This time around the spooky creature is Yousei-san. It’s a monster who rob your things and if you see him, you will end up being eaten. Many students including Yashiro lost their stuff and they believe that it’s Yousei. When so many things like books, student’s food and even locker door are missing altogether than it something of a big deal. When Yashiro’s friend accidentally trips water on her, Yahiro’s scales show up and so she moves away from there. She reaches hallway and finds the stolen things and that’s when Yousei appears in front of her. Thankfully, Hanako appears and rescue her. Unexpectedly, Yousei is kind of cute when it comes to appearance. He looks like a union of squishy rabbits in pink color known as Mokke. They are adorable with cute voice.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Episode : Review

The show went light hearted with Yousei. Mokek were harmless and mostly calm but they have become different now as the rumors about then made them change themselves. The phantoms have to act according to their stories because if they don’t do that they will eventually end up disappearing. The trend of exaggerating the stories regarding them is so common and to keep up with that frequent change of stories they have to keep changing themselves. It’s kind of depressing. Probably not all of these monsters are evil or it’s possible that they all are innocent and harmless and the exaggerated stories of humans have made them what they are now. Mokke are actually very cute looking innocent creatures but the stories of humans have turned them into monsters. Sadly Hanako have to be one to cut them down.

Hanako is one of the wonders of the school who is tasked to deal with all the other phantoms and if he see any dangerous or harmful creature then he has to cut them down. But Yahiro comes up with an idea. Hanako have no connections with the human so he can’t explain them the truth but Yahiro is one of those humans and she can talk to them. She can help Mokke. And now after being rescued by Hanako twice, it’s her turn to help him. Their friendship moment on the roof was adorable. Yahiro spread the rumor that Mokke loves candy and if all the students will keep candies with them then they will not deal their stuff and would just take the candies. Her plan works.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Episode : Review

The rest of the episode is about Kou Minamoto. He is an exorcist who wants to get rid of Hanako as he sees him as a dangerous creature. We also get to see some action sequence. There are many fans who are criticizing the animation. I know what the problem is but I think it’s different and good in its own way. But the fight scene was indeed poorly animated. It could have been better but they made it look exactly like manga panels so it wasn’t much appealing when it come to an action scene.

The other half of the episode was more interesting because of Kou. We also came to know more about Hanako. There is some more story regarding Hanako and it seems like he was a killer. He turns that into a joke but his attire and the fact that he has kitchen knife with him is suspicious. According to Kou’s grandmother, Hanako is not a friendly ghost and she once tried to get rid of him failed. So, Hanako is an interesting character and stronger than we expected. The story about his murder is yet to reveal. It can be self-defense or probably he did that intentionally. This terrifies Yashiro and she wonders if he is really her friend as she has no idea about who he is.

Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Episode : Review

This episode was better than the first episode. The chemistry between Hanako and Yashiro was on point. The story about the rumors of phantoms was interesting. Kou made a short appearance but we are going to see him more in the future. There are some more characters to be introduced. S I’m excited about this show.
