Crunchyroll Streams New Anime: Cherry Magic, Snack Basue, Yamishibai 12

Crunchyroll has recently announced the exciting addition of Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!, Snack Basue, and Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai 12 to its streaming platform for the winter 2024 season.

Magical Debuts and Mind-Reading Crushes

The magical rom-com anime Cherry Magic! is set to premiere on a Wednesday and will make its appearance on TV Tokyo alongside BS TV Tokyo.

Square Enix Manga & Books introduces us to an extraordinary tale:

A 30-year-old virgin named Adachi unexpectedly gains the ability to read minds with a mere touch. And when he happens to brush against a good-looking colleague, Adachi is shocked to discover he’s fallen for him – yes, himself!

Under the direction of Yoshiko Okuda, known for her work on Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-, the anime is being produced at studio Satelight. Takahiro Kishida, with his diverse design portfolio including hits like Durarara!! and Haikyu!!, is bringing the characters to life, while Tomoko Konparu takes charge of the series scripts, adding her expertise from series such as Nodame Cantabile. Adding to the creative team, Tomoki Hasegawa’s musical compositions are sure to set the tone for this enchanting story.

Laughs and Liquor at Snack Basue

Beginning on a Friday, Crunchyroll will serve up the anime adaptation of Forbidden Shibukawa’s humorous manga Snack Basue.

This gag comedy anime is set to launch on Tokyo MX, followed closely by BS Asahi, HTB, and AT-X. Audiences will be taken to a quirky bar located in Sapporo’s North 24th neighborhood, a short distance from the lively Susukino district. The tales from the peculiar patrons and occasional newcomers at this bar promise to weave a narrative of comedy and camaraderie.

Helm by Minoru Ashina, who has previously worked on series like Isekai Quartet, the production of the series is being carried out by Studio Puyukai. Ashina also leads the story scripting and animation direction, with Tomiyama. bringing character designs to the table.

Behind the scenes are Jun’ichi Ōkubo as the director of photography, Fumiyuki Go as sound director, and Yuji Furuya handling sound effects. Musical ambiance is courtesy of Shōta Kowashi, while Pony Canyon takes on music production responsibilities.

Moreover, Crunchyroll is set to stream the 12th season of the chilling anthology, Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai 12, starting January 14 at 3:45 p.m. EST. Once again, Akira Funada is at the helm, directing the anime at studios ILCA and ILCASHIPS.

Creators of urban legend-inspired horror, the writing team includes Hiromu Kumamoto, Mitsuhi Sasagi, Choji Yoshikawa, and Saori Aoki. Muto Shoma contributes his storytelling prowess along with a team of talented animators, who collectively craft the series’ signature atmospheric terror.

Inspired by traditional paper theater performances from the Showa era, each short six-minute episode seeks to evoke spine-tingling sensations in a modern-day context.

The eerie yet enthralling journey of Yamishibai began in July 2013, and the series has continued to haunt and captivate viewers with each new season, bringing traditional Japanese ghost stories to the limelight of anime.
