We are going to talk about characters in the Chainsaw Man in this article. There are many strong characters in the Chainsaw Man universe, including all devils and devil hunters, both alive and dead. They will be ranked in order of the strength they possessed and the impact they had on Chainsaw Man’s narrative. For those who haven’t read it yet, I should warn you that this list contains “spoilers.”
The story takes place in a universe in which people’s fears can manifest physically as the Devil. Our main character is called Denji, and after his father passed away, he was left with a sizable debt that he was unable to repay. He is able to survive by taking odd jobs and killing demons for the Yakuza thanks to a devil dog he saved named Pochita.
The chainsaw abilities of Pochita are effective against these strong demons. Pochita makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect the old master from the Zombie Devil after the Yakuza betrays him and is killed by him. Denji has now been reborn as a strange demon-human hybrid. He is now a chainsaw man!
After transforming him, Makima immediately enlists him in the Public Safety Demon Hunters, who are now under threat of extinction because he is now a Demon. While slaying demons and working with other eccentric demon hunters, Denji struggles to figure out his dreams and create meaningful relationships now that he is living comfortably for the first time in his life.

Chainsaw Man Strongest Characters
Akane Sawatari
Previously employed by Gun Devil, Akane Sawatari was a civilian demon hunter. She was bound to a Snake Devil. She serves as the Katana Man arc’s secondary antagonist. The Snake Devil and Akane have an agreement that enables her to call him up whenever she wants.
Sawatari can absorb and release beings, use snake demon body parts, and summon them into existence in exchange for her nails. With this ability, Sawatari has been demonstrated to be able to summon the Katana-Man and command the ghost demon to fight for her. Akane can become anxious, despite her tendency to remain calm, as was evident when her subordinates started to perish as a result of Makima’s counterattack.
Himeno
Himeno was a member of Makima’s elite squad and a Public Safety Devil Hunter. Together, she worked with Aki Hayakawa. Himeno can access the phantom demon’s power in exchange for giving the devil permanent access to her right eye. Himeno is able to call forth and exert control over the ghost demon’s intangible and invisible right arm. This arm is powerful enough to pierce the flesh of the Devil of Eternity with several large wounds. Himeno can summon different ghost demon arms to attack and overpower her opponent by switching her entire body.
After Himeno disarmed Kobeni, Kobeni was rendered helpless immediately, proving Himeno’s fighting prowess. She typically displays upbeat body language and has the ability to maintain her composure in tense circumstances, like the beginning of her group’s conflict with the Devil of Eternity.
Eternity Devil
The fear of eternity is personified by the devil who is known as “the devil of eternity.” He serves as the primary antagonist of Eternity Devil’s title arc. A hotel’s entire floor could be transformed by the Devil of Eternity into a circle, making it impossible to leave in any direction. The Devil of Eternity’s stomach is effectively this region of space. Due to the devil’s isolation from the outside world, time appears to be standing still inside his stomach. The time displayed on each and every clock in the devil’s stomach was 8:18.
The Devil of Eternity has the ability to transform into a monstrous body inside his stomach that will seek out and attempt to kill anyone within him. This body begins small and increases in size exponentially. Denji’s body was torn apart by the Eternity Devil avatar even after he had transformed and lost a lot of blood, demonstrating the avatar’s strong physical prowess. The Devil of Eternity finds amusement in other people’s pain and fear, and he laughs aloud when Kobeni loses control and collapses. He is prepared to work with people to further his objectives.
Angel Devil
Angel Devil is a Special Division 4 public safety demon hunter who personifies angelic demon. The Angel Devil is regarded as Division 4’s second-strongest agent after Captain Kishibe, what prevents him from succeeding is his laziness. The Devil Angel Wings can serve as temporary shields and are strong enough to block shots. Physical contact with a devil angel can allow them to absorb human life. If touched for a long enough time, this will end up killing the affected person without any pain.

Katana Man
The Katana Devil and Katana Man, also known as Samurai Sword and Katana Man, are a human-devil hybrid. Because Denji killed his grandfather, a Mob boss, he allied with Gun Devil to exact retribution on Denji. He is the primary antagonist of Katana Man’s main storyline.
By taking off his left hand and showing a katana coming out of his stump, he can change into Katana Man, who has swords coming out of his arms and head. Her transformation into him can be undone by taking the katana out of his arm. He is unable to fight for a while after her transformation back into him is undone. His Katana Man has significantly more strength in this altered state, and his cuts can now pierce through thick walls.
The Katana Man could seemingly teleport past his opponent before his attacks manifested on his body by crouching down and preparing to unleash his swords as he dashed forward at incredible speeds. The Katana Man has shot Denji, Aki, and Himeno at close range with a pistol while in his human form. Aki and Denji can be defeated by Katana Man’s powerful slashes thanks to his proficiency as an arm-to-arm fighter. Selfish and vicious, so is the Katana man. He is only interested in killing Denji and making him accept responsibility for the murder of Katana Man’s grandfather.
Cosmo
Cosmo, also known as the Cosmos Fiend, was a member of the Quanxi harem. Cosmo has the power to compel his victim to comprehend the entirety of the cosmos. In a semi-cathonic state as a result, they can only think of Halloween until they die. After that, the victim will only be capable of thinking or saying “Halloween” before passing away.
Other than his typical smile and air of carefreeness, Cosmo doesn’t seem to show many other emotions. She is silent, only repeating the word “Halloween,” and, like the other demons in Quanxi, she follows Quanxi. She seems to be in love with Wuanxi and is under her control.
Hirofumi Yoshida
Hirofumi Yoshida is a private demon hunter. He is regarded by Makima as a high-class bodyguard specialist, along with Kusakabe and Tamaki. Yoshida has a deal with Octopus Devil for an unspecified sum of money. He can call forth the devil octopus tentacles that emerge from the ink clouds by intertwining his middle and index fingers. To attack single targets or encircle them, he can call forth a number of these. They can be called upon by Yoshida to wrap around him for protection or to trap him and keep him from dying. The tentacle will emit a substantial black smoke screen when it says “Ink.”
Yoshida employs this to confuse his opponents so he can strike. He displayed quite a remarkable level of hand-to-hand combat skills during his brief battle with Quanxi. Yoshida and Quanxi, who is renowned for her extraordinary physical strength and fighting skills, are able to engage in a brief duel on an even playing field. Yoshida’s personality is currently unknown, but it is known that he is playful and mischievous and enjoys chit-chatting with his opponents while in combat.
Violence Fiend
Galgali is a member of Special Division 4’s Public Safety Demon Hunters and the Demon of Violence. The Demon of Violence is a demon with extraordinary power. He is compelled to wear a mask that releases poison in order to control his strength. Reze was fighting Violence Fiend, and when Reze blocked his attack, Violence Fiend’s kicks were powerful enough even to pummel the ground he was standing on.
Violence demonstrated his strength and his ability to transform certain parts of his body into a state of liberation throughout his attack on Reze. As a result, said members will grow bigger and develop more muscle, increasing their level of strength significantly. Being able to kick a zombie in the head at close range and use a punch to knock Beam down is the main unarmed fighting style of the Violence Fiend. Despite being known as the Demon of Violence, he is incredibly cordial and straightforward.
Quanxi
Quanxi is a Chinese demon hunter. Quanxi is composed and stoic; she is not ashamed to conduct business while in bed with her demon harem, and she displays very little bit of emotion even when her friends compliment her. Hirofumi Yoshida has described Quanxi’s level of strength as being incomprehensible to humans. She is so skilled with swords that she can swiftly and effortlessly slash through dozens of human and doll opponents before her attacks destroy her weapons. The Angel Devil and Aki Hayakawa were both knocked out cold by just one blocked hit.
Quanxi has superhuman speed even when she is in her human form. She could disappear from the view of five demon hunters as she ran through an army of dolls made by the Doll Devil before those five demon hunters realized they had already been killed. Quanxi has the ability to transform into a hybrid with numerous arrows and spikes protruding from her arms and head by drawing an arrow from her right eye socket.
Quanxi can shoot arrows in the shape of a bow from her forearm, and he can also use it as pellets at close range to quickly dispatch a group of enemies. Kishibe thinks that Quanxi is one of the best people in the world at fighting up close. She specializes in kicks and can disable Denji, Tamaoki, and Kusakabe with nothing but kicks in a matter of seconds. Quanxi uses a variety of swords in battle, switching between them as they are inevitably destroyed by her powerful blows. With her high speed and ability to move quickly, she can cut through large groups of enemies at once.
Reze
Reze, also referred to as Lady Reze, is a cross between the Soviet Bomb Devil and Gun Devil’s ally. She is the primary bad guy in the Bomb Girl story arc. Reze is incredibly strong for a girl; she could easily break an assassin’s arm and strangle him to death, and with a regular knife, she could cleanly slice Denji’s wrist in half. Before Denji could react or pull the chainsaw cord, Reze was able to sever her wrist and cut her throat. She uses the same method.
Reze can make her choker explode and change into a hybrid form by inserting a pin into it, just like a grenade. She is also capable of using the same move, but she blows her head off and leaves a fake version of herself to draw attention away from her adversaries instead of simply changing. Before Reze is revealed, this dummy can support and launch her own head before having her entire body detonate like a bomb.
Reze has the ability to make explosions by igniting his own skin from her arms, which strengthens her physical attacks. Reze can pull them out and set them off to explode. By removing them from her hands, she can also shoot them. In this form, Reze is significantly more resilient, as evidenced by the fact that she is unharmed by the Violence Fiend’s full-power kick.
Reze is a pro at fighting without a weapon. In her human form, she has the skill to disarm and wound an assassin, making her superior to him in every way. Reze was one of many kids that the USSR abducted and enrolled in a special government program designed to produce super soldiers who would be loyal to their homeland.
Kishibe
Kishibe from Special Division 1 is a Public Safety Demon Hunter, he was promoted to captain of Special Division 4 after the attack on the special Divisions. Makima claims that the Angel Devil is the second-strongest member of Special Division 4 after Kishibe. The most powerful demon hunter, according to him, is himself. Kishibe is a stoic and uncomplicated person. He is so strong and skilled that he often performs his tasks with calm formality and little emotion.
At least three evils with whom Kishibe has contracts have been deemed to be “quite dangerous.” Kishibe was initially rejected by them because they didn’t think he was special, but he ended up being strong enough to defeat two of the fiends working for Quanxi on his own. Kishibe is incredibly powerful for a human, a lightning-quick fighter, and possesses superhuman reflexes. His body is incredibly resilient. In order to avoid Denji’s blow, Kishibe repeatedly stabbed him in the back.
He then proceeded to slit Power’s throat after putting the knife through Denji’s jaw and into his brain. He could stab Denji in the head with a knife thrown precisely down a hallway. Kishibe is a master of close-quarters combat. Kishibe was able to turn and kick in a single fluid motion to hit Denji’s head and knock him out when he attempted to attack him from behind.
Power
A member of Makima’s elite team, Power is a Public Safety Devil Hunter and Blood Fiend. Power is immature, rapacious, and almost entirely self-serving. She frequently engages in combat believing she has something to gain and is certain of winning, and she has no problem leaving a situation where she is clearly outmatched. Power asserted that other demons would flee from the scent of her in her original demon form, but this is probably just a boast on her part.
The power has complete control over the blood in her body, allowing her to create weapons at will. She can also control the blood of other people by touching it, and she can stop them from bleeding out, though she admits it is hard. By mixing her own blood, the power can also distort her target’s regenerative abilities. Power’s power increases dramatically when she drinks too much blood or blood from a stronger demon.
After consuming too much blood, she is shown to grow additional horns on her head. Denji could be knocked out of the air with just one hit from Power in this situation. Power became the devil after he drank blood from the Chainsaw Man. Her capacity to manipulate blood, as well as her speed, strength, and durability, have all been greatly enhanced. She can now resist Makima’s control abilities thanks to her transformation.
Aki Hayakawa
Aki Hayakawa worked for Makima’s special squad as a public safety demon hunter. Aki appears to be a very stoic individual. When he is with his fellow demon hunters, he appears mature and dependable, but when he is alone, he is very soft. He had contracts with Curse Devil, Future Devil, and Fox Devil in the past. Gun Devil killed him and took possession of him to make him Gun Fiend.
Aki is a skilled swordsman who uses a sword as his primary weapon when fighting demons. When Aki points the nail to any part of the target’s body and says the word “fire,” the cursed devil’s hand appears and strikes the back end of the nail, dealing damage. By stabbing her foe three times with the nail, Aki can conjure the cursed devil to possess her foe and kill them by inflicting a curse.
Aki fell out of favor with the Fox Devil, so he was taken to the public-safety prisoner Future Devil, where he signed a contract to use his abilities in exchange for allowing Future Devil to reside in his right eye. Aki has the ability to see into the future for a few seconds. He employs it to anticipate and plan his opponent’s attacks. Fox Devil had a deal with Aki Hayakawa. If Aki gave him a piece of his body, he could use his strength in battle.
After using the Fox Devil recklessly against the Katana Man, Aki lost the ability to summon it. By raising his hand and saying “Kon,” the Fox Devil’s head would materialize on his enemy’s body and either devour them whole or sever them from the rest of their body, where they would come into contact with the Fox Devil’s bite. Due to his transformation into Gun Fiend, he can rapidly and accurately fire the pistol attached to his left arm. He can easily break through walls and Denji, as well as destroy multiple buildings at the same time.
Hell Devil
A devil who personifies the fear of hell is known as the devil from hell. The devil from hell appears as a centaur with a head devoid of features other than a huge mouth that is open in a grin. Only flesh that is engulfed in flames covers him. When he takes on his role as the Devil from Hell, he is able to take the form of a gigantic hand with six fingers that emerges from a gate in heaven that is connected to one of hell’s many gates. This enables the devil of hell to damn some people to hell. Hell’s devil has the ability to send victims to the world of humans.
Santa Claus
Santa Clause is an individual who has a deal with Doll Devil that enables them to take control of a number of different bodies, one of which is assuming the identity of a German Devil Hunter. The International Assassins arc’s main antagonist is Santa Claus. Santa Claus is smart and knows what to do. He hid in the Soviet Union with a doll designed for bargaining and haggling.
Makima and Kishibe think of him as the most dangerous threat to Denji out of all the demon hunters and killers in the world. They say that if he uses his demons against them, it will all be over. Doll Devil had a contract with Santa Claus for an unknown sum. Santa Claus can make dolls out of people to do his bidding. Touch triggers the effect, which spreads contagiously as one doll touches another, turning the crowd into a horde of dolls. These dolls can even turn a limb into a weapon. Santa Claus, on the other hand, has to stay nearby to keep control of his army of dolls, and the process doesn’t work on demons or devils.
Santa Claus has the power to transport any living being to hell simply by naming the location. But in addition to sacrificing three of his children, he and his children are required to give up one of their own bodies. Santa Claus can use the Devil Curse in exchange for the loss of sensation in several of his fingers. The contract calls for the nail to be stabbed into the intended victim four times before the cursed devil appears and kills the victim. Santa grew much taller, gained many more arms, and underwent numerous other changes to his body that made him resemble a doll overnight.
Gun Devil
A very powerful and effective demon who personifies a fear of weapons, the Gun Devil. Gun Devil is surprisingly quick and can kill 1.2 million people in different nations worldwide in just five minutes. His movement was so swift that some of his flesh literally burned off of his body. The Gun Devil can quickly and accurately fire bullets from a variety of weapons that are a part of his body.
He is capable of shooting a bullet through the heart of every living thing born in January, February, March, May, June, August, September, November, or December within about 1000 meters of itself, a bullet through the head of every adult male within about 1000 meters of him, a bullet through the head of every child up to 12 years old within about 1500 meters of him, and a bullet through the head of every child within about 1500 meters of him.
Due to his own speed and strength, the Gun Devil is able to burn away his own flesh, which resembles bullets. The Gun Devil gains a great deal of power when demons of any kind eat pieces of his flesh. These bullet fragments are drawn to one another, fuse when touched, and attempt to reattach to the Gun Devil’s main body in an effort to regenerate. He is still unconscious and, as Makima said, his body has been divided into several parts.
Twenty percent of his body belongs to the United States, twenty eight percent to the Soviet Union, eleven percent to China, four percent to other nations, and the remaining 37 percent is in the possession of demons as pieces of meat all over the world.
Punishment Devil
The fear of punishment is represented by the devil known as the Devil of Punishment. At some point, the Devil of Punishment and Yutaro Kurose agreed to a deal for an unspecified sum of money, according to Michiko Tendo. Makima battles the Devil of Arms using the powers of the Devil of Punishment, as well as those of several other demons and the humans they have hired. Only when one asks for him with complete contempt and great sacrifice can he be called forth. It is made up of a large number of demons, who attack the target directly through a portal on the sky side. The Punishment Devil’s skills are not well known beyond that.
Darkness Devil
The devil known as the Darkness Devil represents our innate aversion to the dark. The devil of darkness is said to be a supernatural entity, one of the demons who personifies an ancient dread and is so powerful that he or she cannot be destroyed. The Darkness Devil is swift in both movement and combat. He was able to show up in the middle of several demon hunters, including Quanxi, and move around without any of them noticing.
He could dispatch several opponents with his many arms before they could respond. It has been demonstrated that the Darkness Devil can easily raise both humans and demons.
In order to cover the surrounding area in darkness and make several astronauts’ bodies appear to be split in half, Darkness Devil can do so. The Darkness Devil summons a bell-encrusted sword with a telekinetically controllable hilt to use against his foes. When the bells ring, a violent hemorrhage occurs as soon as he comes into contact with someone who is being beaten by him. The Darkness Devil appears to require no physical effort to sever the arms of various humans, demons, and devils.
The Demon of Darkness will start to bleed to death in copious amounts of blood the moment he looks directly at another being, whether it be the devil or a person.
Makima
Public safety demon hunter Makima adopted Denji as her pet human. Later it is revealed that she is the Devil of Control, a representation of the dread of control. She serves as both the primary protagonist and antagonist of the public safety saga. Makima is incredibly shrewd and deceptive. She manipulates Denji by luring him into a romantic and sexual relationship and threatening to kill him if he disobeys her.
Makima has exceptional physical strength, which enables her to engage in hand-to-hand combat successfully without relying on any of her subordinates. She exerted enough force to physically outnumber Pochita and break her chainsaw.
Makima’s capabilities are largely unknown. She has shown a variety of skills, some of which may be her natural ability as Control Devil or the skill of another demon she controls.
Makima has demonstrated her ability to exert control over any creature she perceives to be beneath her, even compelling them to enter into agreements with her or another demon. The victim appears to lose her memory after being put under her control. Demons, hybrids, and humans can all use this power.
She can summon her victims through a chain that is attached to her body, channeling their power. Angel Devil, Future Devil, Snake Devil, Punishment Devil, and Zombie Devil’s skills have all been demonstrated to be usable by her. This method can be used to manipulate even the dead. Three of the weapon hybrids in Makima’s team—Reze, Quanxi, and Katana Man—were once enemies who had changed their behavior for the better.
This suggests that Makima has direct control over them and can subtly alter their personalities. Makima has demonstrated her ability to use an imperceptible force to crush her target. Makima appears to require a higher location, the name of a target, and a human sacrifice in order to use this technique. Makima has demonstrated that if she sees a person who appears crushed from the inside, she will kill that person. Makima has demonstrated the ability to communicate with people even after they have passed away by placing his hand on their head.
Chainsaw Man (Denji)
The lead character in Chainsaw Man is Denji. He receives his father’s Yakuza debts as a child. He becomes a demon hunter for the Yakuza after meeting Pochita in an effort to recoup his debt. When a Devil-possessed Yakuza betrays him, he passes away and Pochita becomes his heart. He turned into a demon hunter for public safety after meeting Makima.
Due to his lack of access to a formal education and social opportunities due to his extreme poverty, Denji is cheeky and naive. He has a rude, tough, but almost childlike personality. Denji may not be the brightest person, but he is capable of clever strategies to defeat demons, such as setting himself on fire and using the light that was released to make Santa Claus vulnerable enough to be killed.
Denji has a cord coming out of his chest that he can pull to turn into a chainsaw devil with a bloodlust for blood. If Denji doesn’t have enough blood, he won’t be able to fully transform; instead, he will only be able to manifest chainsaws that are much shorter and weaker. Denji needs blood to use his abilities. His arms in this hybrid form appear to have changed to a more mechanical structure after transforming into Full Devil Mode and becoming himself again, as opposed to the more humanistic appearance before his transformation. He is stronger, more durable, and more resilient. Denji produces fully functional chainsaws for his head, legs, and arms as part of his transformation.
As demonstrated by their ability to sever the Bat Devil’s arm, these chainsaws are incredibly effective against demons. Short chainsaws that he can walk on and stick on walls can be manifested under his feet by him. He has chainsaws in each of his four arms, like the devil himself. Denji’s chainsaws automatically retract into his body if he needs to use all of his arms and legs. This has not yet been witnessed in his fully devilish form.
As Makima reveals, the Chainsaw Devil is capable of consuming other Demons and erasing them from people’s memories. As a result, they are unable to reappear because people are no longer afraid of them, as shown by the fact that Kishibe was ignorant of the situation. History’s revelation that the chainsaw devil once ate his fellow devils, including the Holocaust, the Nazis, and even the nuclear bomb.
Denji is a skilled fighter with both weapons and no weapons, even without being transformed. He was able to easily deflect the punches and headbutts the leech devil threw at him despite the fact that she was many times bigger and heavier than him. After training with Kishibe, where he discovered how to rely more on strategy than blind force, his abilities further advanced.
Following the termination of his agreement with Pochita, Denji changed into a Full Devil. In this form, Denji exhibits incredible strength and speed, swiftly dispatching several Hybrid-Devils. Although it has been established that he sustained damage and was even slowed down by being thrown into space and sent to Hell, these actions only served to delay him for a short period of time before he returned unharmed. Hell, where it is implied that he vanquished all the demons that live there, serves as further evidence of his immense power.
Makima claimed that he had used this method to murder her 26 times. Although it has been demonstrated that Denji retains some memories and frequently acts on them, the form doesn’t seem to have Denji’s personality or consciousness. Denji was defeated by Makima in order to save Kobeni, and then Power came to his aid and helped him get back to normal.
