Birthday Wonderland is about young girl Akane. She is not a very social person that sometimes become an issue in her life. Her mother tells her to visit her aunt’s store a day before her birthday. Things start to get weird from then onward.
Akane accidentally summons a mysterious alchemist, Hippocrates along with his servant Pipo by touching a stone. They tell Akane and aunt Chii that they looking for Green Goddess and without any further delay take them to ‘The World Beyond’ after some weird encounters Akane and her aunt discovers that this mysterious world is being destroyed slowly due to shortage of water and as a result trees are losing its color and it’s becoming problematic for their world. On top of that, the inhibitants are scared of Armored Mouse which is a kind of mobile weapon.
Akane is determined to save these people from these threats and find a way out although she has no faith that she has powers. During their journey Akane and Chii encounters many weird and mysterious characters that offer them help but also end up causing trouble. But the most dangerous individuals are the two pilots of Armored Mouse named Zen Gu and his partner in the cat form named Doropo. Zen can be considered villain of the show.
Akane Chii and Hippocrates are on the mission to save everyone in the world and prevent the world from being destroyed. Moreover their other goal is to help prince (a character that you’ll know while watching the show) get to an important event that can change the ill-fate of this world. Birthday Wonderland is an adventurous show and so we don’t want to spoil it for you. Read further to know why it is recommended and what are some negative points of this anime. Blending multiple themes in a fantasy film can be risky but Birthday Wonderland has done a phenomenal job in making it look aesthetically great.
A movie becomes unforgettable with its great soundtrack and Birthday Wonderland is one of those movies. The music of Birthday Neverland plays a great part in keeping you intrigued throughout the film. The voice actors have also done excellent job in giving life to it. It won’t be wrong to say that without there great efforts this movie would not have been so epic.
Although it is a fantasy movie with adventurous story but it doesn’t five much time before they are dragged into the fantasy world. The story builds up in few minutes and their adventure starts in no time. For those who are not into face paced movies, might not like that. It feels like Akane and Chii are dragged into the world to suffer without giving much time to know them or understand them.
It can be a bit disappointing when it comes to exploring the world to the fullest. Akane and aunt explore the places of this fantasy world as they travel but as it is just two hours movie so it wasn’t given much screen time. It is not too bad when it comes to story but for those who expect to see every tiny detail will be disappointed.
There a part in the anime where the alchemist becomes fly for some reason. But it stay like that for a little longer than it should. Though it provides comedic relief and it also helps Akane and Chii to connect with each other but we get such a long time without Hippocrates and actually miss him in those scenes.
Overall Birthday Wonderland is a fascinating movie that can be enjoyed by both young and old viewers. It was not a very serious show but still managed to keep us thrilled with the wonderful journey of Akane and Chii to see how they save the world that doesn’t belong to them. Birthday Wonderland is worth watching for all those who love fantasy and adventure.
