Basketball Manga Slam Dunk Gets New Anime Movie

On Thursday it was declared by manga maker and illustrator Takehiko Inoue on his Twitter account that a movie is being made based on his basketball manga Slam Dunk. The declaration by Takehiko Inoue didn’t disclosed that whether the movie is anime or live action but the authorized website of the movie has listed anime studio Toei Animation and explains the movie as an anime.

From 1990 to 1996 the iconic sports manga was issued by Inoue in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine for a total of 31 volumes. In 1933 a television anime was made based on the manga and it received for anime follow ups. The series is being telecast by Crunchyroll and it explains the story in the following manner:

Hanamichi Sakuragi is a delinquent with a long history of getting unloaded by young ladies. In the wake of trying out Shohoku High School, Hanamichi gets inspired by a young lady named Haruko who adores the sport of b-ball.

In English all of the 31 volumes of manga were set out by Viz Media.

In May 2015 the season one, volume one was set out by Cinedigm on English dubbed version-only DVD. In 2005 four DVD volumes of the anime was set out by Toei with English dubbed before ceasing its direct distribution plans in North America.
