A Heartfelt Story of Friendship and Fun

Set against Hiroshima Prefecture’s picturesque Onomichi City backdrop, “Pon no Michi” follows high school student Nashiko Jippensha after she is expelled from her home. Seeking connections and a space to bond with friends, she stumbles upon her father’s former mahjong parlor, now desolate.

With dedication and a touch of creativity, Nashiko revitalizes the parlor, transforming it into a cozy haven for leisure, culinary experiences, tea ceremonies, and occasional mahjong matches.

The mastermind behind the anime’s original concept is IIS-P. The direction and scripting sails in the capable hands of Tatsuma Minamikawa, known for lending his talent to works like “Fire Force” and “Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry.” The acclaimed OLM studio animates the series.

The distinctive character art springs from the imagination of Negi Haruba, celebrated for “The Quintessential Quintuplets” with keen adaptations by Kenji Ōta for bringing those designs to animated fruition. The soundscapes that will envelop viewers come from an adept ensemble of musicians: Yūko Takahashi, Takuma Sogi, hisakuni, Rico Ohashi, Kanji Eguchi, and Shari.

Music aficionados can look forward to the opening theme “Ponpopopon” by Kana Nakada, a former Nogizaka46 idol and professional mahjong player, backed by Pon no Michi All Stars. Halca delivers the finishing touch with the anime’s ending theme, “Good Luck Waker.”
