The event not only showcased the anime’s visual flair but also disclosed crucial details such as the title, main cast, and an esteemed production team, all setting the stage for an anticipated television debut this April.

Star-Studded Cast Joins the Fray

Touken Ranbu Kyoden Moyuru Honnōji” takes its place as the first of fifteen captivating stage plays derived from the “Touken Ranbu Online” game series. This narrative arc features Fudō Yukimitsu, an anthropomorphic incarnation of the revered sword possessed by the historic warlord Oda Nobunaga, gifted by Mori Ranmaru.

The original “sword personification training game” reimagines famous Japanese swords as dashing bishōnen, courtesy of Nitroplus’ immersive character designs and scenarios, which has been enthralling players since January 2015 in Japan.

The “Touken Ranbu” series has not only blessed the anime realm with the “Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu” series and films but has also ventured into the theatrical world, inspiring both stage musicals and plays in addition to manga adaptations. Johren, extending the series’ reach, released the browser game in English in April 2021, followed by a smartphone version. However, the English and Chinese versions were retired as of August 21, 2021.

January 2023 brought news of “Wanpaku! Touken Ranbu” by Sanrio’s anime, and the “Touken Ranbu: Tsuki no Tsurugi Enishi no Kiri no wa” kabuki stage play is gearing up for screenings in Japanese theaters starting April 5.
