Tsuguo Okazaki Launches New Cyborg 009 Manga in July

On Wednesday, it was announced in the Akita Shoten’s Champion Red Magazine’s August issue that a new manga inspired by sci-fi hero manga “Cyborg 009” will be launched by Tsuguo Okazaki. This manga will be published in the next issue of the magazine on 19 July and will be named “Cyborg 009 Bgooparts Delete”.

The original manga Cyborg 009 by Shotaro Ishinomori has been adapted in films in 1966, 1967 and 1980 and also in TV anime series in 1968, 1979 and 2001. In recent times, the manga inspired the Cyborg 009 Call of Justice movie in 2016 and 009 Re:Cyborg movie in 2012. In 2015 an OVA wilth Devilman was inspired by the manga.

The story revolves around an international organization, popularly known as the Black Ghost, which is determined to plague the world with a never ending war. 9 women and men are captured by the black ghost and they are transformed into Cyborg soldiers. However, in a twist of fate, the cyborgs start a rebellion and fight off the Black Ghosts.

In 1985, an OAV was inspired by “Justy” manga of Okazaki. The manga adaptation of the anime “Macross II” was also drawn by Okazaki.
